Personal Development

I’m committed to continuous learning and personal growth, and my homelab serves as a cornerstone of that process. It’s a hands-on environment where I’m constantly tinkering, experimenting, and acquiring new skills that I can bring into a professional setting. By using my homelab as a sandbox, I can test and troubleshoot ideas, ensuring that mistakes happen at home and not in production. This approach helps me refine my skills and build confidence in implementing solutions in real-world environments.

In my homelab, I manage several servers running Proxmox for virtualization and Samba for file sharing. My network setup includes a MikroTik switch and router, and I maintain RAID arrays to ensure data redundancy and reliability. One server operates on a DMZ VLAN to host websites, which I run using WordPress Docker containers with Cloudflare for DNS resolution. I also run Pi-hole to block advertisements across my network, improving efficiency and user experience. Additionally, I manage a Windows virtual machine that uses Blue Iris for a self-hosted camera system. Proxmox allows me to spin up and experiment with various operating systems, providing a safe environment to explore and learn without risking production systems. This dynamic setup not only keeps my technical skills sharp but also deepens my understanding of advanced IT concepts and practical applications.
